IIT Mandi Received USD 85,000-Donation Aid For Needy Students, Boosting Research & Academic Excellence
This Generous Donation has been received from Mr. Mohinder L. Nayyar, an esteemed alumnus of IIT Roorkee and US-based philanthropist

February 13th, 2025; Mandi: Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi), one of the top second-generation IITs, is honoured to announce a munificent donation amounting to USD 85,000 received from Mr. Mohinder L. Nayyar, an esteemed US-based philanthropist and a proud alumnus of IIT Roorkee. This remarkable contribution marks the largest donation ever received from a US-based philanthropist to the IIT Mandi/DORA Office, setting a new milestone in support of our mission.
This donation will be used to create the IIT Mandi Endowment Fund to promote and recognize excellence and is expected to take a significant stride in moving forward the overall quality of research at IIT Mandi, supporting needy students while enhancing academic excellence in higher education.
To ensure the effective use of the funds, a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Mr. Nayyar, IIT Mandi, and the IIT Roorkee Foundation with an objective to promote academic growth and nurture talent in line with the long-term vision of the institute.
Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director, IIT Mandi, and Prof. Varun Dutt, Dean, Resource Generation & Alumni Relations, emphasized the importance of philanthropic contributions in further strengthening the academic and research ecosystem. They also appreciated Mr. Nayyar's rich support and guidance as a significant factor in moving forward with IIT Mandi towards becoming a world-class hub for innovation and knowledge creation.
