AWARENESS CAMP ON POLICY IMPLEMENTATION BY PRO BONO CLUB OF MANIPAL UNIVERSITY, JAIPUR
Jaipur  : The School of Law at Manipal University Jaipur is enthrilled to have successfully conducted Legal Awareness Camp on Policy Implementation at Jhalana Basti, Jaipur. The camps were organised recently in association with District Legal Services Authority, Jaipur. The guests, Smt. Ashka Rao (Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Jaipur and Additional District and Sessions Judge in Jaipur) and Priyanka Acharya (Advocate at District and High Court) not only blessed the camps with their presence, but also helped the persons find solutions to the problems. Government policies and schemes are the guided through Directive Principles and State Policy of the Constitution. Welfare and equitable justice are the main goals behind this. These policies are effective when its actual implementation reaches the grassroot level, especially for the poor, marginalised and underprivileged sections of the society.

Keeping this forward, the enthusiastic students conducted a survey of 200 people to find which policies are yet to reach its execution. Here, problems relating to poor sanitation, unavailability of cards for availing beneficiary schemes, anganwadi education, etc. were the major concerns. Other issues included, absence of tap water in households, electricity cut, late or non-opening of government dispensaries, etc. Through the identification of problems and pre-hand research on grievance mechanism, the Camps were organised. These camps not only made the people of the Jhalana Basti aware but also helped to bring their concerns to the authorities. The club intends to organise more such events in future for the disadvantaged.
